Ryusen Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum 'Ryusen'

'Ryusen' has a leaf style and color similar to Acer palmatum 'Jiro shidare', but it's more vigorous and a much stronger weeper, sending out long, slender shoots in youth.  It also has gorgeous orange-red fall leaf color as seen in the picture.  This form is also one of the few pendulous maples with green palmate leaves. Discovered at Koboyashi Maple Nursery in Japan, it has only recently entered the United States and is still very hard to find in the trade. Do not confuse it with 'Ryusei' .
